I love to read and I love to follow other writers on Instagram. I tend to post a lot of quotes on my page for motivation, inspiration, and/or because something about the quote resonated with me. I came across a couple poems on Instagram that I also "connected" with. They were typewritten and posted on Instagram by a poet I follow: Eddie Cabbage. I saw them and told him that I must have them! I would like to say I am doing it because I want to support local artists (well ok, he isn't exactly "local" but you get my point), but really I am just selfish. Purely selfish. I wanted them for myself.
My original thought for this blog post was to show different pictures from inside my house to show other artists' work, but then I didn't want to bore you. I have paintings from artists, paintings by yours truly, my mother, and my husband. There are also crayon markings all over my bathroom from my son....Yes, I am THAT mother. Perhaps it is the hippie side of me, but I want my son to express himself and if he wants to color my bathroom with wash away crayons then so be it. Unfortunately, the crayons didn't exactly wash away like they were supposed to, but I wasn't mad. In fact, I was secretly happy because the marks make me smile every day.
My point is that I am selfish but at least that selfishness is also supporting other writers/other artists. This just might be the beginning of monthly blog posts featuring other artists/writers that I love. Hmmm....turning my selfish desires into a sharing opportunity with you sounds fun.
Below are the framed poems, as well as a look at my husband's paintings in the background (and one of mine from Wine & Design). The first is my kitchen. It is an old 1970s kitchen that is still being painted, etc. so the framed poem about having a writing love affair with hummingbirds is so appropriate. It is here that we see my beloved hummingbirds outside. The other poem is in my bedroom where there are several different types of art. I am so excited to hang it where I can see it every single morning.
I do love hummingbirds to the point of following "hummingbird whisperers" on Instagram and I have a hummingbird tattoo, but it is the feeling that the poems evoke in me that I love most and that is why I had to have them. If you love them as much as I do, then check out his Etsy store:

And now, my loves, I must fix lunch for my family, put my son down for a nap, fix some chai tea latte and write.
My book is coming along nicely. I am not sure when it will be done. My focus isn't on speed; it is on creating something I truly love. The excitement I feel for this current book is beyond words. I love the characters; I love their passion; I love their craziness.
I cannot wait to share them all with you ...one day. <3
