Growing up we had one of those advent calendars that you open a small door for each day and there is a piece of chocolate waiting for you. At least, this is what I remember. I wanted to do something different for my son. One, because chocolate makes him hyper and two, I want to instill a love of books and reading in him.
I am a writer. I am a mother. I have been a special education teacher for over ten years. I am a synesthete, but didn’t realize it until I was 30 years old. I am slightly dyslexic. I second-guess myself on facts that I know…or don’t know…or maybe I do know… Every profession has them. Only when you are a writer, those reviews are out there for EVERYONE to see. It is such a strange thing to deal with.
In the last month, I have had two people say that they didn't think I had a "dark" imagination. First, they don't really know me. Second, never judge a book by its cover. Truly. I may be quiet but I write exactly what I want to without fear of anything. And that is how I think one should write: for yourself.
