I might be a little absent for a while....
but NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) starts in just two weeks. AND I have tons to do before I am ready on November 1st!
I have a hard time finding the necessary time to write, but what I love about NaNoWriMo is that it forces me to find the time. It forces me to set those goals and really stick to them. It also gives me something to blame. When I need to focus only on my writing, I can blame it all on NaNoWriMo because usually if I just say I can't do something due to wanting to spend time writing, well.. it gets me blank stares and eyes rolling. I realize that my day job is teaching, but what people don't realize is that I want to be a full time writer. I love teaching, I love my students, but writing is where my life is taking me. Writing is what truly makes me feel alive. Sound cheesy? I know. It is and I am.
So today I have spent some good time getting my NaNoWriMo mindset together:
- I have updated my dashboard on NaNoWriMo site.
- I have begged my work bff to go with me to the kickoff party (because deep down, I am a hermit and would be perfectly happy never leaving my house but that isn't really living life so I force myself to do the necessities: go to work, occasionally see friends, take my son to busy anxiety-ridden places, etc.).
- I have created the next cover to the book I will be writing next month. Here is a sneak peek below.
- Finally, I have told all of you that my next blog might not be next week. It might be in December. I love writing my blog weekly; however that damn NaNoWriMo is making me write. ;)
Finally....if you haven't done a NaNoWriMo then just go for it..."the world needs your novel!"
