It is hard to believe that #50daysofsmiles will be over in just a few days. I have had many reasons to smile and many reasons not to.
It has been a rough first week of school. Let me explain because that implies that school was rough and that is not the case at all. In fact, I am constantly amazed at my students. I realize that it is still just the "honeymoon" period, but these students are amazing.
I have no time at all to slack off or talk with coworkers (or rather get to know coworkers) or even really do anything besides teach. My days are unbelievably busy. My lunches are no longer cussing up a storm and laughing until you cry with coworkers. My planning periods are no longer at a leisurely planning pace, walking casually to the copier, checking my email, etc.
I am completely busy every second of the day and have to do more work at home because there is no time to do it at work. However, I am not leaving exhausted because of behaviors of students, etc. I am now leaving with a different type of exhaustion...one with a happiness because the students are that great. I give them classwork and they say "thank you". Homework is given out and they again say "thank you". I get hugs here and there just because they see me. They make me smile every day and I hope they continue to do so.
On that note...here are some more moments that have made me smile during the #50daysofsmiles.
